Double page spread skills development journal

Firstly to ensure that the double page looked right I used the line tool to create a line down the centre of the a3 page.
Next I added my main image which was choosen to take up both pages.
I then added a smaller band image which used the same technique of that shown on my front cover with the pink background and using the free transform tool and locking the layers together as shown below:
Because the image didnt look right going over top of Neils arm "main image" I used the magic wand tool to go round his arm, then copy and pasting it back in and putting the layer overtop of the smaller image making it seem as if it were behind.
After all imagery was on I then used the textbox tool and created my articles, with the text box tall I rendered all text to the left and picked an easily readable font. I also used the color pipet tool to select the exact color taken from the front cover.
This heading was created using Dafont and then using the photoshop color changing tool to change it to an appopriate color for my magazine.
This is the finished result.

contents page skills development journal

Firstly I uploaded the main image for the main article in the magazine to make it more appealing I used the drop shadow tool to make it look almost like the picture is coming of the page.
As shown in this image.
Next I used the text tool to create my page numbers and headings, to keep it consistant with the rest of the magazine I kept it black and pink.
I used the same technique for all pictures with the drop shadow as shown in previous pictures

skills development journal for my front cover

Firstly on my front cover I wanted my main image to cover the whole page and to also meet the criteria of media conventions for a front cover of a rock/heavy metal magazine. This means that it had to be at an angle to make the person seem more powerful and itimidating. To create more of a gory and heavy metal look I greyscaled the image. Next Using the stamp tool I managed to remove some of the rubbish that was in the picture.
Next I used a software called Aperture 3 for Macs to design my masthead then using photoshop i created a shadow using the dropshadow tool and made it pink. However it still covered over my main image.
Next I used the magic wand tool and to cut round Josh's "main image" head, then copy and pasted it back in, in a new layer so that the head overlapped the masthead making it appear that the masthead was behind his head.
Then I created a pink box so that once an image was put into it, it would appear as if the image had a pink border. After this I linked the two layers together with the heading and tilted all of it slighty.
Lastly on my front cover I used text of a site called DaFont to create a style of text that suited my magazine. To get this text into photoshop I had to printscreen the text and then cut and paste the part I needed into my design. For the main headline I used the same technique as the image before using the free transform tool to slighty tilt the text.
